Valentina Pereyra, MSc Student in agronomy and a member of Dr. Ignacio Ciampitti Lab, received the 2nd place award at the 2022 CSSA Society-Wide Graduate Student competition at the 2022 International American Society of Agronomy,Crop Science Society of America and Soil Science Society of America annual meeting in Baltimore.

This event holds all participating divisions from Crop Science ranging from breeding genetics to plant physiology, management and turfgrass. Students present a poster in addition to a 5-min rapid oral presentation. After which, one participant from each division is selected as the winner to proceed to the Society-Wide Graduate Student Competition.
Valentina participated in the C2 section “Crop Physiology and Metabolism”, where she presented “Soybean yield & protein: case study of a modern & old variety at varying row spacing”. This research is part of her masters program at K-State.
This award is the highest recognition for a graduate student in Crop Science. There were numerous competing students from across the country who did an excellent job representing each division from the CSSA.
The Society-Wide Graduate Student competition will have its next session at the 2023 ASA-CSSA-SSSA International Annual Meeting during Oct 29-Nov in Saint Louis, Missouri.
